Overview

A new, interactive workshop which engages your staff and students in a fun, fast paced learning experience. The students constantly interact with the teacher enabling key points to be brought out and developed. In a three hour  morning session each team will have created a small business to solve local problems and developed a Financial and Business plan. The afternoon is spent preparing and presenting their Business plan as a team. Students can see each others ideas as they tweet them to the whiteboard so they quickly learn from one another with their tasks building in complexity and depth. Because they tweet their ideas as they do on Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites they immediately identify with the learning method. As each task is visibly timed and short, the students experience a fast paced, interactive process and they ‘learn by doing’.

Content

This Challenge day starts by asking each student team what problems they see in their local, or national area. It then leads them through the process of thinking how they can offer solutions to their chosen problem. In a recent day the Year 8’s in a Lancashire school developed more than 1000 ideas on how their local town could be improved! These solutions are the basis of new business ideas which can be social enterprises or very entrepreneurial. Each team must choose a business idea, cost it in a financial plan and create a workable plan to ‘make it happen’. Every team member is involved as the full range of a Business plan is covered in the tasks set by ClassBubbles. Time management for each student becomes essential as the tasks are short (5 minutes). Their cumulative thoughts are captured throughout and serve as great outputs to demonstrate the success of the day for each individual and team. Each student is then encouraged to participate in their team’s presentation of their idea and to think about how they can improve their personal performance. 

Your own material can also easily be put into ClassBubble form to make your lessons unique, interactive and fun for your students, yet highly productive.

Cost

A maximum of 30 teams are allowed but these can be individuals or teams of 6 within classrooms. Internet access is required and each team or individual will need access to a notebook or computer.
The day includes a remote business expert who "drives" the session, an E4A facilitator to assist your teaching staff and access to the interactive and engaging learning environment which is used to drive the day. Your teachers act as facilitators as the system challenges the students to "tweet" in their responses. To the students it feels like they are on their favourite social networking sites. The teachers are then free to help the students draw out the learning without having to control the delivery.

This innovative learning process also gives you a CPD opportunity for your teaching staff.
To provide this totally involving learning experience the cost is £1500 plus VAT (which can be reclaimed) and if teams of 6 are used in an average sized school then the cost per learner is a competitive £8.33 plus VAT per learner.
