Preparation for Your E4A Challenge Day
E4A want you and your students to get the most out of the challenge day. The following guidelines have been established to ensure that you get the best out of an E4A Enterprising Challenge Day:
- Prior to the day, split the students into teams of 8, preferably mixed ability and mixed gender.
- Ideally, arrange for a large area to be made available with desks or chairs. Alternatively classrooms where two desks can be rearranged to form tables that the students can work round (3 teams per classroom).
- A large area is required at the start of each day to register all the students, put them in to their teams and provide a short introduction to the day (using PowerPoint). This area needs to have a screen, laptop and data projector.
- Although not a requirement, if a large area is available at the end of the day this enables all the students to be brought back together for a short presentation and prize giving.
- Each team needs their own table for the duration of the day so that they can keep all the materials they are working in one place whilst they go for breaks and lunch.
- Each team will need access to 2 computers, one for research, preparation of a proposal and the PowerPoint presentation and the other to run the Business Simulation Software (where appropriate). Please check with the Session Director the specific requirements for your challenge day.
- Ideally, the computer suite should be located near to the area/rooms in which the teams will be working. You may wish to use a pass system to control the movement of students.
- A ratio of one teacher to every 25 students is needed in order to maintain discipline.
- For the Football challenge day, a large indoor space is required in the event of rain.
- For the business simulation software, the students will need access to www.e4a.org.uk and www.spreadsheetserver.com/server1/ .
- Go to www.e4a.org.uk/html/preparation.html and go to the link at the bottom of the page to test whether the business simulation software will work through your firewall. Please log in as a student to do the test so that you have the same rights and policies.
