Enterprise Education in Context
Over the past 3 years E4A staff have been working with schools and would concur with the recent Ofsted Report to Schools as follows:
- Schools who did not fully understand the objectives of enterprise education focused on the periphery. On the other hand schools who were clear about the objectives knew what skills, knowledge and attributes they wanted to develop in their Key Stage 4 students
- Successful schools had clear purposeful leadership and used a combination of methods including suspended timetable events, cross curricular activity and dedicated time.
- Good lessons or events demonstrated students taking responsibility and calculated risks whilst being allowed to be innovative and creative. This is achieved through teamwork, discussion and debate. These objectives are met by a mix of staff development (CPD) and the use of experts from outside the school, with this area being under exploited.
E4A believe that a school with an embedded “Enterprise Ethos” is one where its students recognise their formative education in school has strong links and a direct impact on their future life. Central to this are students who have raised their game through self confidence, higher esteem and a “Can do Attitude” leading to greater motivation and attainment levels. This is achieved by dedicated educational professionals through their personal development and working with like minded professionals from outside the school environment. Who together deliver high quality education to prepare students for their future aspirations and careers within an ever demanding world. Where staff and students feel a valuable part of the school community.
