Developing New Training Days for a Wider Choice

E4A is looking to develop an extensive range of training days and is working with a number of schools to develop the following products:

  • Enterprise Jigsaws & lessons for Key Stage 2
  • Workshops on Continuing Professional Development in Enterprise Education

The Enterprising range of training days is built from a number of simple proven concepts and so new products can be developed and tested quickly.

If your school has a particular specialism that is not covered by our current range of products, give us a call and we will be happy to discuss how we can work with you to develop a product around your specialist area.

Basic Structure of an Enterprise Training Day

Introduction

Each training day has a number of elements that have been included in order to simulate a working environment:

These include:

  • Formal aims and objectives for the learning and the activities
  • Pre & Post Evaluation
  • Activity
  • Team work
  • Time pressure
  • Different ways of working
  • Presentations by the students
  • Multiple approaches to learning
  • Competition with token prizes for the winners
  • Personal Development Plans
  • Post-evaluation sheet for the teachers

Formal Aims and Objectives

Each day has a lesson plan which contains formal aims and objectives of what the day is going to achieve for the school and the students. The students also receive a memo at the start of the day detailing what they have to achieve.

Pre and Post Evaluation

A pre-evaluation sheet is completed by each student at the start of the day to try to ascertain their understanding of the subject. A post-evaluation sheet is completed at the end in order to gain an understanding of what they have learnt.

Activity

The days are designed around activity. Either physical such as football and cheer leading or more sedentary such as drawing posters, working on computer based simulation etc. The activity is designed to stop the students getting bored whilst ensuring they are involved in a beneficial activity.

Team Work

Team work is critical to success in the modern world of business. The training days are based around students working together as teams.

Time Pressure

Globalised trading now means that businesses need to work harder, smarter and faster. Missing deadlines is not optional in today’s commercial climate. The training days are designed to keep a constant pressure on the students throughout the day.

Different Ways of Working

A variety of ways of working are used to stimulate the students and keep them interested. These include: computer business simulation software, design, art, physical movement or exercise, presentations etc.

Presentations by the Pupils

At the end of the training day, each team of students has to do a very short presentation and the best presentation is given a prize. A lot of time is spent in business on communication, thoughts, ideas and persuading people to act. This is now a critical part of business and although the majority of the students find it difficult and embarrassing they nonetheless seem to enjoy the experience once they are doing it.

Multiple Approaches to Learning

People learn in different ways and the Enterprise training days are designed to engage with the students through a variety of ways in order to ensure that they learn and are kept engaged in the process.

Competition with token prizes for the winners

In business there are no prizes in coming second. First mover advantage is key to the success of our best businesses. Each training day concludes with a short presentation of prizes to the winning team or team. Presentation of the prizes is usually by a member of the senior management of the school.

Personal Development Plans

Good businesses develop their staff. They do this through personal development plans. At the end of each training day each pupil completes a personal development plan about what they have learnt and achieved, what they could do better and what they plan to work on over the following months.

Post-evaluation sheet for the teachers

All the teachers involved in the training day are asked to complete a short post evaluation questionnaire as your feedback is important to us.

If you have an idea for a training day at your school that is not listed on the site, give us a call on 0115 9428914 and we will be happy to discuss how one can be developed. There is no charge for the service and the day itself will cost the same as a corresponding standard training day as we are keen to expand the range of training days in order to provide a wider choice to schools across the UK.
